LIZ DE PAULEY
I live and work in Sussex and find inspiration in the Sussex countryside, but most of my paintings are inspired by objects; teapots, jugs, industrial machinery, telegraph poles. Things that we take for granted are often unexpectedly beautiful when looked at for a little longer. I am interested in the relationship between close observation, caricature and painterly expression. I want my pictures to be a celebration of things that I find beautiful.
The work in the slide shows all date before 2017 – I’ve hardly painted or drawn since then, but watch this space as I am planning to start creating art again in 2024.
SUNDRY ITEMS
Here are some of my most recent paintings, based on industrial machinery, including an old crane and an air compressor. And a few older works which I'm still proud ofView SUNDRY ITEMS»

WIND TURBINES
I loved working on these Wind Turbine pictures. They are such muscular machines but also graceful and strangely fragile looking from a distanceView WIND TURBINES»
