Only Connect

The inspiration for the ‘Connections’ paintings began in the Etruscan Museum in Volterra, Tuscany, which I visited in 2011 on a painting course with John Skinner.  The exhibits were wonderful, but what excited me was the network of wires on the building opposite – telephone, TV, electricity connections jostling for position beside the pulley systems for drying clothes.

I then became intrigued by the telegraph poles and electricity lines that stride across the Sussex countryside.  In this digital age of circuit boards and remote controls they are starting to look a little old fashioned.  These pictures celebrate connections that we can see.  Most of these are about 60cm x 45cm
